The BGS welcomes the volunteering deposit of digital data into the NGDC for use by the wider geoscience community. Numerous organisations have deposited data such as the NDA and many universities.

Many of the BGS's most popular datasets are available to search and view online. BGS discovery metadata, geological maps, photographs, records, indexes and scientific vocabularies are freely available in our broad range of systems and web services.

We are happy to provide advice and support on using digital data.
